The FAO defines Food Security as “Food security occurs when all people have permanent physical, social and economic access to safe, nutritious food in sufficient quantity to satisfy their nutritional needs and food preferences, and thus be able to lead a life active and healthy. " So Food Insecurity according to FAO 2021 is defined as "Insufficient food intake, which can be transitory, seasonal or chronic ".AI mainly affects poor and extremely poor populations and the way it is measured is by the prevalence of hunger in a population, thus, given the high food insecurity (AI), food banks were created, non-governmental organizations without profit (NGO). In such a way that there is a network where the Food Bank of Peru (BAP) is located that trains and generates aid programs to combat hunger and thereby contribute to the reduction of AI. On the other hand, the BAP, in addition to providing basic necessities such as food and some cleaning products to the beneficiary community, must characterize each beneficiary group that it serves. There is evidence at the Latin American level that knowing the characteristics of the beneficiary group, it is possible to provide adequate support for a more nutritious diet according to the population. The objective of this study is to elaborate a state of the art on the knowledge of the work of the Food Bank of Peru and the contribution of the characterization of the beneficiary population in strengthening the intervention of the Food Bank of Peru against AI.
