Objective: Determine the relationship between knowledge and practices on the prevention of iron deficiency anemia in mothers of children under 1 year of age, Tahuantinsuyo Bajo maternal and child center, Independencia. Materials and method: Quantitative study, co-relationship, non-experimental and transversal Results: It is obtained that 24.80% have high knowledge and adequate preventive practices, 35.20% have medium knowledge and adequate preventive practices, 9.60% have low knowledge and adequate preventive practices, 7.20% have high knowledge about anemia. iron deficiency but inadequate preventive practice, 8% have medium knowledge and inadequate practice, 15.20% have low knowledge and inadequate preventive practice. Which has a significance of 0.000 indicating that there is a relationship in both variables, accepting the research hypothesis and rejecting the null hypothesis. Conclusions: It is demonstrated that there is a relationship between knowledge about the prevention of anemia and practices to prevent iron deficiency anemia in mothers of infants under 1 year of age, which indicates that if there is better knowledge there will be better practice. in order to prevent this problem that is common at the national level and that is having a high epidemiological prevalence.
