The objective of this work is to determine the effect of the use of short incubation periods during egg storage (SPIDES) on the artificial incubation process, measured through the parameters of birth percentages of first-class baby chicks, discard percentage and percentage of embryonic mortality in young and adult breeding hens. The use of SPIDES in eggs stored for more than seven days improves the results of incubation parameters regardless of the age of the breeder hen. On average, the use of SPIDES improved hatching of first-time chicks by 7.74%, decreased discarding by 1.04%, and reduced embryonic mortality by 5.53% compared to treatments without SPIDES. The application of SPIDES allowed to reduce the loss of hatching eggs. Eggs with a maximum of five days of storage had, as expected, better results in incubation parameters compared to the other treatments.
