ABSTRACT The present research work aims to determine how work stress influences the performance of the administrative staff of the District Municipality of San José, Pacasmayo - 2020.The descriptive correlational cross-sectional design was used, using the quantitative technique, the survey, for data collection. The research methods are: Deductive - Inductive, Analytical - Synthetic and the Statistical method. The population is made up of 30 administrative workers of the District Municipality of San José, the sample is represented by the same population since it is called a population sample, and to whom the survey could be applied, according to the results it has been allowed to qualify the study variables, then the analysis and discussion has been carried out, proving the hypothesis that establishes that: "Work stress significantly influences the performance of the administrative staff of the District Municipality of San José, Pacasmayo - 2020". Finally, the conclusions and recommendations have been formulated. The main conclusion establishes the Spearman Rho Test, the influence relationship is 0.401, which means that there is a moderate positive correlation with work performance, they have had qualifications for work stress as a medium level and for the performance of the administrative staff of the District Municipality of San José also qualifies as a medium level. Therefore, it is recommended that, to improve work stress, identify the most influential stressors which prevent them from carrying out their activities, for this it is necessary to implement a stress management program in the institution that allows improving the performance of employees.
