Abstract: El objetivo de la presente investigación es dar a conocer la situación actual de la cadena productiva de textiles artesanales elaboradas a partir de fibra de ovino y camélidos a fin de promover la producción y el uso de los mismos. En el mercado interno los productos derivados de la lana de oveja y alpaca se colocan como prendas y objetos de origen artesanal, entre ellos tenemos chompas, bufandas, bolsos femeninos, monederos, llaveros, fajas, ponchos, entre otros; mientras que en el mercado externo la presencia de exportaciones es muy reducida. La cadena productiva de la lana de oveja y alpaca presenta 4 eslabones. Productor, Perú es el principal país productor de fibra tiene una población de 3,685.516 de alpacas, 208.899 de vicuñas y una población ovina de 9,523.198 que ubica al Perú en el segundo país de mayor producción en América después de Brasil, luego está los Minoristas que son los que compran y acopian la fibra grasienta al barrer a los productores; seguidamente tenemos a los Mayoristas quienes compran la fibra clasificada a los minoristas; dentro de este eslabón tenemos la transformación de las fibras, finalmente ofrecer los productos terminados al Consumidor. Los artesanos textiles son los herederos de la tradición histórica, elaborando piezas de valor que siguen maravillando por sus colores, iconografías originales de diseño. Por tanto, es importante su conservación, difusión e innovación, no solo por su atractivo cultural, sino como medio para mejorar la calidad de vida de quienes se dedican a esta actividad.
