ABSTRACT As a result of the phenomenon of the Coastal Child, which occurred on March 14, 2017, as a result of the extraordinary rains, numerous streams were activated that are mostly along the Major Irrigation Infrastructure, included in the Main Canal and Canal Chimbote, causing significant damage that caused the dragging of materials, broken channels and clogging them, being in most of them unable to conduct the necessary water resource, thereby affecting farmers in their usual irrigation and of Population consumption. The present study is aimed at identifying the most affected and vulnerable points of the Main Structures of the Chinecas System's hydraulic network, mainly the channels (open and covered), spillways, among other structures; in turn, determine the damage, as well as its magnitude, whether moderate, mild or severe; in addition to the speed of response of the Control and Security stations in the face of extreme discharge phenomena; In addition, the following study will propose actions to be carried out for the Prevention and Mitigation of disasters through direct inspection analysis of the Control and Security structures in the Main Structures, which will serve as tools and guides for the shift operator of a given station. , which will facilitate and increase their speed of response to extreme events, to avoid future damage due to an extreme hydrological event. The results that are expected to be obtained when taking an analysis of the damages is to determine the socio-economic and environmental impact within the area of action of the Special Project, as well as the areas that continue to pose a risk to the water network (streams, evacuation, etc.), since these were not contemplated within the original design; and by proposing preventive and contingency measures to be implemented with the purpose of guaranteeing the distribution of water resources to agroindustrial users (18,544 hectares under irrigation), and population (370,692 inhabitants) which meant 160 million soles in losses (infrastructure, crops, others) after the collapse of the hydraulic network before this last coastal child. And that will affect the reduction of costs in repairs and maintenance of the Main Structures.
