ABSTRACT This research had as a main goal to evaluate the use of the prophylactic garlic (Allimsativum) on diets for quails and its effects on the productive variables during the growing and posture stages. 288 quails were used distributed in a totally random design with 4 repetitions per treatment. The treatment usd were T0 (control diet), T1 (T0 + 30g of Alliamsativum L.) and T2 (T0 + 50 mg of Alliamsativum L.). The data were evaluated with Anova and Duncan discriminatory test .During the growing stage (14 – 35 days after born) the average consumption per bird per day was 1.86, 1.97 and 2.02 Kg for T0, T1 and T2 respectively. Food. Kg live weight was 0.17, 0.16 and 0.15.for T0, T1 and T2 respectively.Body weight was 95.99 and 102gfor T0 , T1 and T2 respectively ; and the mortality, 0.80, 0.53 and 0.6% for the T0, T1 and T2 treatments respectively. Significant differences were found between treatments (p < 0.05). During the posture stage (36-112 days), the food consumption was 22.4, 23.4 and 24.3 g for T0, T1 and T2 respectively. Food. Kg egg mass was 2.65, 2.38 and 2.34, for T0 , T1 and T2 respectively, egg weight 9.8, 101 and 107 gfor T0 , T1 and T2 respectively, yolk weight 3.19, 3.28 and 3.64 gfor T0 , T1 and T2 respectively, albumin weight 5.16, 5.96 and 6.27 gfor T0 , T1 and T2 respectively, eggshell weight 1.77, 1.91 and 1.99 gfor T0 , T1 and T2 respectively, and the mortality 0.91, 0.32 and 0.19% for the T0, T1 and T2 treatments respectively. Significant differences were found between treatments (P < 0.05). It’s concluded that the use of garlic (Allium sativum L.) as prophylactic 50g/t doses for diet in quails, during the growing and posture stages improved the productive variables during both stages.
