ABSTRACT Anemia is a problem that causes inadequate oxygen supply to tissues and organs, negatively impacting health. The objective of the research is to determine the factors that affect the risk of anemia in members of a university institution in Trujillo- 2024. It was carried out through a descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study, 294 university volunteers participated, quantifying hemoglobin, hematocrit and mean corpuscular hemoglobin, and applying a survey to obtain data related to modifiable and non-modifiable factors. The results of the quantified parameters are mostly normal values 55-66% and in relation to non-modifiable factors it indicates that the majority presents normal values in age with hemoglobin values obtained 93.9% from 17 to 25 years and 6.1% older than 26 years in both females and males; the sex presented p = 0.003, indicating that there is a statistically significant association between sex and the risk of presenting anemia, about the modifiable factors the BMI with p = 0.917, the mean arterial pressure p = 0.020, consumption of medications p = 0.919, physical activity p = 0.215, harmful habits p = 0.215 and diet p = 0.0659 indicating that there is no significant relationship between the two variables and do not influence the risk of anemia. Conclusion. The non-modifiable factor sex significantly influences the risk of suffering from anemia in women greater than in men, and the modifiable factors do not have a significant relationship with a p> 0.05 which do not influence the risk of anemia.
