ABSTRACT This investigation has studied the influencie of máximum annual precipitation in 24 hours into the generation of máximum flows on basin Moche river in order to identify areas vulnerable to floods on the Menocucho Populated Center, Laredo District. This rainfall has been analyzed and predicted for differents return periods (10, 25 ,50 ,100 years) with statistics tools. Then the Hydrologic Model has been applicaded through a systematic process precipitation-runoff, this way máximum flows have been calculated. With this data, run-off has been simulated, by the application of a Hydraulic Model on the Menocucho Populated Center, Laredo District for the return periods mencioned before. This way, with geografic information system (GIS), topographic and hydrographic GIS datasets for basin Moche river, areas vulnerable to floods have been determinated. Resulting in maximum flows, for different periods of return were 200.58, 281.96, 351.33, 428.19, 639.14 m³ / s., The sections with the highest risk of flooding were: 1 + 38 km .; 2 + 83 km .; 4 + 48 km And 5 + 00 km, where we can estimate the number of hectares affected, which covers a total of 68.58, 76.8, 98.35, 108.87, 119.65 and 144.74 hectares, for the return periods of 10, 25, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 years respectively
