ABSTRACT The research study "ASSESSMENT OF PLANT COVER BETWEEN YEARS 2016 TO 2018 USING SATELLITE IMAGES AND GEOMATIC TECHNIQUES; IN THE CHICAMA VALLEY. " The study area is located in the Chicama Valley in the department of La Libertad, with a study extension of 103,980.05 Hectares. The satellite images used were from the Sentinel satellite "2", these images were obtained from the server European Space Agency (ESA) and processed in Software ENVI 5.1 and ArcGis 10.1, with which the index maps were generated vegetation difference normalized (NDVI). In the case of the plant evaluation, four indicating the vegetative vigor are shown. It also presents the extension of the plant cover in hectares, percentage and the trend for the 10 areas of study in the three years, having as main results in the Valley in the year 2018 was obtained greater amount of plant cover with 67155.05 hectares and with less coverage in the year 2016 with 51472.27 Hectares. For the district of Paiján, Razuri, Magdalena de Cao, Chocope, Casa Grande and Ascope has an increasing tendency that represents the increase of vegetation coverage as the years pass; For the districts of Santiago de Cao and Chicama the trend of plant cover declined in the year 2017 with respect to the year 2016, but by the year 2018 was recovering its coverage. For the study area number "9" (Nazareno Bridge downstream right and left bank of the river Chicama); The trend of plant cover declined in the year 2017 with respect to the year 2016, but by the year 2018 has a tendency to recover its coverage. For study Area number "10" (paddocks Land bristles); The trend of plant coverage increased as the years Passed. The valley in the year 2018 was recorded the highest value of vegetation in very good condition and good condition with (6643.66 ha) and (31528.81 ha) respectively. The year 2016 registered more vegetation in regular state and poor state with (19264.31 Ha) and (14738.55 ha) respectively. Key
