Objective: Determine the prevalence of occlusion characteristics in preschoolers of 5 years age. Material and method: A descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study was done, it evaluated 179 children, 8m males and 91 females, 5 years old, all enrolled in three public initial level institutions of the district of San Nicolás , UGEL Rodríguez de Mendoza of the Amazonas Regional Directorate. Results: It was found in the arch type, in the upper jaw 87.2% reported arch type I and 12.8% arch type II, the male sex 93.2% presented arch type I and the female sex 81.3% significant difference corroborated by The chi square (p <0.05), the arch type in the lower jaw, 69.8% presented arch type I and 30.2% arch type II. The Overjet, we found that 86% reported a normal overjet and 14% an abnormal overjet. In the Oberbite we found that in 72.1% it reports a normal overbite and 27.9% an abnormal Overbite. In the midline we found that 48.6% reported a symmetrical midline and 51.4% an asymmetric midline. Developmental spaces in the upper jaw, primate space was found in 83.8% reported existence of primate space and 16.2% reported non-existence of primate space, In the compensatory space we found that 68.7% reported compensatory space and 31.3% reported no compensatory space, 76.1% in male sex reported compensatory spaces and 61.5% in female sex, significant difference Corroborated by chi square (p <0.05), development spaces in the lower jaw, primate space was found in 49.7% reported the existence of primate spaces and 50.3% reported non-existence of primate spaces, the compensatory space was found that in 65.4% reported existence of spaces And 34.6% report non-existence of compensatory spaces, In the molar terminal plane on the right side, 41.3% reported mesial terminal molar plane, 35.2% reported straight molar terminal plane, 12.3% reported molar terminal plane mesial step exaggerated, 9.5% reported molar terminal plane distal step, the 1.7% reported non-registrable terminal plane, in the molar terminal plane on the left side 43.6% reported mesial terminal molar step plane, 33.5% report straight molar terminal plane, 13.4% report terminal plane exaggerated mesial step, 8.4% report molar terminal plane distal step, 1.1% report non-registrable terminal plane. In the canine relationship on the right side, 53.1% reported canine class I, 26.2% reported canine class II, 20.7% reported canine class III, in the canine relation on the left side, 55.3% reported canine relation class I, 25.1% report canine class II relationship, 19.6% report canine class III relationship. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate a high prevalence of alterations in the characteristics of occlusion in early ages, and it is possible to predict the risks of malocclusion in the permanent dentition. It is necessary to propose and execute preventive orthodontic treatments to achieve the normal development of the occlusion
