Objetive: The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the use of PRF membrane in the soft tissues healing in patients with chronic periodontal disease in Moche Stomatological Clinic of the National University of Trujillo, 2016. Materials and methods: A prospective, comparative longitudinal study was performed, evaluating 24 patients, who underwent periodontal flap surgeries, divided into two study groups. The first group was placed PRF membrane during the surgery and the second group a conventional procedure without placing PRF membrane was performed. Two controls were performed, at 7 and 14 days post-surgery, in both data was collected during the clinical evaluation, using Laundry index. Student's t-test was used in statistical analysis to compare the mean scores of each study group. Results: A highly significant difference was found comparing the healing state at 7 and 14 days of the group that used PRF, in the same way, comparing the healing state at 7 and 14 days of the group that did not use PRF, we found a highly significant difference. On the other hand, no significant difference was found comparing the state of healing at 7 days of the group that used with the group that did not use PRF (no efficacy), as well as no significant difference was found when comparing the healing state at 14 days of the group that used with the group that did not use PRF (no efficacy). Conclusions: There is not sufficient statistic evidence to detect a significant statistical difference, however there was a better effect in patients undergoing treatment with PRF membrane in terms of clinical assessment.
