ABSTRACT Surface irrigation includes a variety of irrigation types that have the common feature that water is applied to the soil surface and distributed in the field by gravity, so that the flow of irrigation decreases along the field to the infiltration of the land. The fact that the force of gravity makes the distribution of water makes it unnecessary to have complex water distribution structures covering the plot to be irrigated, such as the pipes of the sprinkler or drip systems. On the other hand, it is not necessary to pressurize the water to obtain a correct and uniform distribution. This means that the surface irrigation systems have two clear economic advantages: they do not need complex equipment that taxes the farmer with their depreciation, nor is it necessary to pump the water above the level of the plot, with the consequent energy savings. When surface irrigation systems are well designed and managed properly, surface irrigation is very efficient and allows for uniform irrigation of the plot. Therefore, the present research work is proposed in order to evaluate and determine the efficiency of irrigation application by gravity, in order to know if the tests carried out within the selected field, "CAMPO GRAU" - district of Casa Grande, Annex of Facalá gave as a response good or bad results within the range of adequate values for good efficiency. In the study procedure, different works were carried out, such as the field, laboratory and cabinet, which were essential to determine the estimation of the efficiency of application in the selected barracks of the aforementioned field; obtaining the following: in barracks 13 (47, 34%) and barracks 17 (57.62%), it is thus concluded that these are optimal within the margin.
