Abstract The general objective of this research is to "Determine the factors associated with type II diabetes mellitus in the elderly, in the Esperanza district, 2024", the type of research was applied with a case-control design. The population was made up of all older adults of Peruvian nationality who reside in the district of La Esperanza, 2024; Then a sampling of cases and controls was carried out in the EPIDAT 4.2 program, whose sample was made up of 126 older adults; of which 42 cases (adults with type II diabetes mellitus) and 84 controls (adults without type II diabetes mellitus) were obtained; The data collection technique was the survey. The conclusions obtained were that the factors that influence type II diabetes mellitus are body mass index with an OR=4.642 (1.034 - 20.828), high blood pressure with an OR=22.884 (3.993 - 131.156), family history with its OR=7.118 (1.574 – 32.180) and the diet with its OR=0.123 (0.021 – 0.703); and according to the Nagelkerke's R2 coefficient is 0.786, meaning that the regression model is valid
