The objective of this research was to determine how the operational audit of credit placement influences delinquency at Edpyme Marcimex S.A. Trujillo agency - 2018, seeking to explain why it is important to evaluate compliance with credit policies, hierarchical dependence and segregation of duties of those responsible for credit approval, as well as monitoring and supervision activities. The operational audit was applied to a sample of 131 loan files, out of a population of 952, evaluating delinquency indicators and the level of provisions budgeted and obtained, before and after execution. A non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational research design was applied for this research, using the induction-deduction methodology. The data collection process was carried out through documentary analysis and interviews, using as instruments the information from the credit and portfolio area of the entity, as well as the interview guide. With the study conducted, it is concluded that in Edpyme Marcimex S.A., the actions taken based on the operational audit of credit placement, positively improved the delinquency indicators of the entity; the deficient approval of credits, caused a risk of uncollectibility in the credits never paid; the inadequate segregation of functions generated a conflict of interest in the position of the agency manager; therefore, in the second semester, the position of credit officer was incorporated, achieving the expected objectives of portfolio recovery. Therefore, it is recommended that financial institutions, through their credit management, conduct a monthly analysis of early harvest indicators by agency and by business advisor, as well as a quarterly analysis of the main deficiencies identified in monitoring and supervision activities.
