ABSTRACT Backgraund: Identify the factors that reflect the results of enteral nutrition therapy in patients at the Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo during the period June-October 2022. Methods: The study was descriptive and retrospective developed at the Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo. The sample was made up of 30 medical records of adult critical patients who were admitted to the adult intensive care unit of the Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo during the study period, who met the inclusion criteria and who were monitored until the end of the study. tenth day of stay in the intensive care unit. The information was recorded in the data collection form prepared by the Clinical Pharmacy service of the Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo. The SPSS V26.0 statistical software program was used to perform the statistical analysis. Results: 10% of critically ill adult patients had insufficient caloric adequacy (< 70%) and 13.3% had insufficient protein adequacy until the tenth day of stay in the intensive care unit of the Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo. 33.3% of critically ill patients showed gastric intolerance due to high doses of opioids, the most common being Fentanyl. On the other hand, 11.76% of critically ill patients were unable to reach the prescribed target volume of enteral nutrition, because they were administered a dose of Norepinephrine greater than 0.30 ug/Kg/min. Regarding gastric residue volume, enteral nutrition was suspended in 95.65% of critically ill patients due to a gastric residue volume of less than 500 mL every 6 hours. Furthermore, 76.67% of critically ill patients presented gastric intolerance due to high volumes of gastric residue for which they received prokinetics for more than five days, the most common being Metoclopramide. Conclusions: The presence of a high volume of gastric residue, diarrhea, abdominal distention and the administration of vasopressors, opioids (Fentanyl) were the factors that delayed the therapeutic results of enteral nutrition in patients in the intensive care unit of the Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo during the period June-October 2022.
