The objective of the research was to determine the effect of ethanolic extract of Solanum tuberosum L. "huayro" on induced gastric ulcer in Mus musculus BALB/c. The ethanolic extract of Solanum tuberosum ecotype "huayro" tuber peel was obtained with 96% acid ethanol (HCl) at pH 3; seven groups of five female mice each were induced with gastric ulceration with 50 mg indomethacin/kg body weight (b.w.) orally (v.o.), with the exception of the negative control group; the groups were: Negative Control Group (GCNG): no ulcer and 0.5 mL physiological saline solution (PSS) v.o., Positive Control Group (GCPS): with ulcer and with 0.5 mL SSF v.o., Standard Ranitidine Group (GERN): with ulcer and treated with 50 mg/kg b.w. ranitidine v.o., Standard omeprazole group (GEOM): with ulcer and treated with 50 mg/kg b.w. omeprazole v.o., Huayro group 100 (GH100): with ulcer and treated with 100 mg/kg b.w. S. tuberosum extract v.o., Huayro group 200 (GH200): with ulcer and treated with 200 mg/kg b.w. of S. tuberosum extract v.o., huayro group 400 (GH400): with ulcer and treated with 400 mg/kg b.w. of S. tuberosum extract v.o.. It was determined that the ethanolic extract of Solanum tuberosum L. "huayro" has a gastroprotective effect on gastric ulcers induced in Mus musculus BALB/c.
