ABSTRACT The general objective of this paper is to analyze the determinants of labor force participation of women in the department La Libertad in 2019. For its development, the Encuesta Nacional de Hogares (ENAHO) database and the econometric probit model were used. Framed in the neoclassical theory of labor supply, the research hypothesis is that the labor force participation of women in the department La Libertad is mainly explained by sociodemographic factors (age, urban area, higher university education, attendance to school, disability, characteristics of the head of household and number of income earners in the household) and economic factors (current private transfers and current public transfers). The results obtained in the present study reveal that there is evidence in favor of the hypothesis, corroborating that the sociodemographic and economic factors considered in the study are relevant to explain the labor force participation of women in the department La Libertad.
