The scientific advances achieved so far are largely due to positivism, which aims to explain, control and predict; the nature of reality describing it as given, singular, tangible, fragmentable and convergent, leaving some biases which can reinforce or generate new knowledge. It is, therefore, that the need arises for a change in thought or paradigm, this change is proposed by Edgar Morin with his approach to complex thinking, which aims to develop thought in an integrated and not isolated way, in order to analyze to reality as a whole that is interacting with its parts continuously; This paradigmatic approach is based on seven principles: Hologrammatic principle, principle of retroactive or feedback loop, principle of recursive loop, principle of autonomy/dependence, dialogic principle and the principle of reintroduction of the knower in all knowledge; which makes us reflect on the reality that it is not only necessary to analyze the objective but also the subjective; This is why the objective of this work was to propose a methodology to develop complex thinking in the doctoral theses of Biological Sciences of the National University of Trujillo, in order to enrich the knowledge generated to better understand the reality studied; For this, an evaluation was made, using a comparison sheet, of doctoral theses in Biological Sciences from 2011 to 2020, available in the postgraduate repository of the National University of Trujillo, in which the influence of complex thinking and positivism was analyzed. ; Then a new methodological proposal was developed to develop complex thinking based on its philosophical principles, having as its fundamental basis the complex reality, the complex methodology and the complex knowledge generated; through a transdisciplinarity that will allow us to glimpse the approach of complex thinking.
