Objective: Establish the relationship between tooth loss and masticatory capacity and oral quality of life in adult patients of the Hospital Florencia de Mora Es Salud - La Libertad, 2017. Material and Methods: Cross-sectional study in 187 adults from 35 to 65 and more years old. The prevalence of tooth loss was measured according to number and location, applying the Batista17 classification. Oral quality of life was measured using the OHIP-14 index and masticatory capacity using the Leake index. The Chi-square test was applied to compare qualitative variables and to evaluate the quality of life score, the analysis of variance and the Kruskal-Wallis test were applied. Results: Dental loss was evaluated according to number and position as a unified variable. Only 11.2% of the sample did not present lost teeth, 31.0% reported losses of more than 12 teeth, no total edentulous were found. The masticatory capacity was presented mostly with great difficulty in the group of 45 to 64 years and 65 to more years, without gender difference. The highest OHIP-14 was 31.4 ± 9.7 at 65 and more years of age. Conclusions: Dental loss is significantly related to masticatory capacity and oral quality of life in adult patients of the Hospital Florencia de Mora Es Salud - la Libertad
