The present research was to determine the social-demographic characteristics about blood donors reactive to hepatitis B core; for which the blood donor registry and donor selection forms of the Blood Bank of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Cajamarca from January 2017 to August 2018 were used. The sample was based on all the people who came to donate whose units were no qualified as presenting reactive serological marker to Core of Hepatitis B. It was observed that the donation by replacement represented the highest percentage in 71.21%, male sex appeared in 59.09%, which was the age group of 40 to 59 years old with 36.36%, from urban area (74.24%). Workers with stable employment represented 71.21% and 90.01% are donors with only one partner, which came from replacement donors. In the present study it was possible to carry out the socio-demographic characterization of blood donors reactive to Hepatitis b core, showed that the most strongly linked to blood donation was replacement donation, being the donors mainly from urban origin. People between 40 and 59 years of age were those who had made the greatest number of donations, as well as those who had job stability and single sexual partner. We recommend that this information must be considered into account when planning donor recruitment, donor care and donor retention strategies not only in Cajamarca but also elsewhere, as donor characteristics may be applied to other countries with comparable demographics and healthcare settings
