The current research focuses on the design of a roundabout using microsimulation to improve vehicular traffic flow, complying with the current requirements of the Federal Highway Capacity Administration's Manual: Roundabouts on geometric dimensions on Avenida América Sur with Costa Rica, Trujillo. For this purpose, 8 station points were established for vehicle traffic volume to extract the number of vehicles registered at said intersection of the avenues, in order to conduct an analysis to determine vehicular traffic flow. Among these factors, we have vehicle travel time, vehicle distance, vehicle flow, and service level. Based on this, a microsimulation will be carried out, which is based on road geometry, traffic flow, conflict areas, and intersection capacity in order to evaluate whether its dimensions meet the requirements and do not exceed the topographic survey planimetry provided, thus observing the improvement of vehicular traffic flow in terms of the indicators shown. The results are described through graphs and tables that specify the behavior of traffic flow, obtaining in this way a limitation on projected traffic and limitations of the terrain, which indicates that the roundabout proposal is not viable at the intersection of Avenida América Sur with Costa Rica, Trujillo.
