ABSTRACT The present investigation refers to the problem of the risk of informality and its impact on economic development in the microentrepreneurs of the La Hermelinda market in the district of Trujillo in the year 2022. The central objective is to explain the impact of the risk of informality of the merchants in their economic development. The methodology used is a non-experimental cross-sectional design, with the population under study being a total of 1,371 microentrepreneurs located within the La Hermelinda market, with 300 microentrepreneurs as a sample. The techniques used in this research are the recording and survey techniques, having as data collection instruments the bibliographic records, summary records and the questionnaire. The results that were obtained after having applied the survey to the sample were that the causes of the informality of the microentrepreneurs of the La Hermelinda market are the ignorance of the formalization process and the bureaucratic and expensive procedures; Likewise, it was also possible to determine that there is a low level of economic development in the microentrepreneurs of the Hermelinda market. The main result is to have determined the negative incidence that informality has on the economic development of the microentrepreneurs of the La Hermelinda market, where the little interest of the merchants to become formalized was demonstrated, in addition to the lack of opportunities they have to develop their businesses. The main recommendation is to promote the formalization of micro and small businesses through the implementation of programs and policies, which should facilitate the procedures that allow mypes to become a formal business; The participation of the Tax Administration, regional and local governments, and other State entities is important in this process.
