The concern of the human being is to constantly learn. Those who have children have the mission of being informed about the development of children, since this affects the actions to be taken regarding their training, in many ways. This research focuses on the field of study of Orofacial Motricity, analyzed from pedagogical and health perspectives, allowing an alliance to be made between these two sectors of knowledge that facilitates interdisciplinary intervention, since both provide important contributions to child development. This is how this research aims to measure the level of knowledge about stomatognathic functions in parents of children between 3 and 12 years old in Lima, Arequipa and Cusco, and thereby know the human group we are addressing. The sample consisted of 135 parents from various schools and a health center in the cities. The research is of the Basic type, which allows resorting to different sources of knowledge to extract information. The design is non-experimental and descriptive cross-sectional. The instrument entitled: "Knowledge that parents have about the oral functions of breathing, sucking, chewing, swallowing and speaking (RSMDH)", was designed by the authors and contains 30 questions written in a simple way to have a favorable impact on the population, with a reliability of 0.73. The results show that the parents have a level of average knowledge (70.37%) on the five stomatological functions in a general way, determining a basic knowledge. In particular, in respiration, a medium level (41.48%) was achieved; suction, medium (40.74%), chewing, good (60%), swallowing, Medium (68.15%) and Speech, Low (48.89%). This motivates us to design dissemination strategies about the knowledge of stomatognathic functions to raise awareness among parents.
