The main objective of this research was to determine to what extent children's stories develop the oral communication competence in 5-year-old children from an Initial level IE, Trujillo 2023, based on an applied research, with a quantitative approach, with a pre-experimental design of a single pre-test and post-test group, where 23 children participated, who were selected through a non-probabilistic sampling and were evaluated through an observation guide validated by experts in the subject. The results before the application of the children's stories reported that 91.30% of the children were at a ""Beginning"" level and the remaining 8.70% were ""In Progress"" in oral communication. During the post-test, 91.30% reached a ""achieved"" level and only 8.70% remained ""Beginning"" in said competence. In addition, there are statistically significant differences between the scores achieved in the pre-test and post-test (Z=-4.110; p<0.05) demonstrating that children's stories have had a significant impact on improving the oral communication of 5- year-old children from an early childhood education center, Trujillo 2023, which allows us to accept the research hypothesis. In conclusion, children's stories are effective for the development of communication skills
