The thesis focuses on analyzing the frequencies of consumption of foods that are sources of iron in children aged 3 to 5 years from an initial educational institution in Ate and its effect on hemoglobin levels. The importance of this topic is justified due to the high prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in this population and the need to implement educational interventions to improve childhood health. The main objective of the thesis is to analyze the frequencies of consumption of foods that are sources of iron in children aged 3 to 5 years, and its effect on hemoglobin levels. An applied study was carried out, using the deductive-inductive method, in which 87 mothers of children aged 3 to 5 years were interviewed about the child's eating habits. The results showed that hemoglobin increased in 47% of the children, while in 28% it decreased, and in 32% it remained the same. It is concluded that the frequency of consumption of foods that are sources of iron influences hemoglobin levels, and that educational interventions are effective in improving childhood health. Childhood iron deficiency anemia can cause delays in psychological development, social isolation, and decreased ability to pay attention. Therefore, it is important that children consume foods rich in iron and health education programs are implemented to prevent and treat iron deficiency anemia in the child population.
