The present research work aimed to establish the influence of the conditions of life in the illiteracy rate of the Center village Huallcor of the district Huaraz in the province of Huaraz of the Department of Ancash. The type of research was explanatory and applied level. Method and research design was Ex post facto also called retrospective. The population consisted of a total of 268 households, with presence of persons of 15 years and older from the Centre village Huallcor, while sampling was non- probability by shares having a sample of 608 persons of 15 years and older of both sexes. The instrument for collecting data was the tab of socio-economic evaluation family (FESE F1) of the comprehensive health insurance. The statistics used was descriptive and inferential using the Chi-square test for testing hypotheses. The data were treated with the statistical package SPSS, with a confidence level of p< 0.05. The results were that the situation of poverty and extreme poverty, housing conditions, the monthly income family, occupation and marital status negatively influence the rate of illiteracy of the Center village Huallcor. Finally, it is concluded that living conditions have a negative impact on the rate of illiteracy of the Center village Huallcor.
