The objective was to determine if the gel of the ethanolic extract of the flowers of Matricaria chamomilla L. (chamomile) has a healing effect in albino mice. The plant sample was collected in the Biohuerto Santa Rosa - Lima and the species was taxonomically confirmed. The flowers of this plant were used to make the topical gel at different concentrations. Albino mice from the bioterio of the National University of San Marcos from 4 to 5 months of age were used, separated into 6 groups of 5 individuals randomly: white group, negative control (base gel), positive control (Cicatricure®) and three experimental groups (10%, 15% and 20%, of the gel produced). Applying the gels in the upper third of the loin of the animal previously shaved. Results of the phytochemical gait showed important metabolites such as flavonoids. In the healing test, all the experimental groups showed a better healing process when compared to the white group (p <0.0001) and, among these, the group that received the 20% concentration gel showed a better healing effect (p <0.0001) and that also was not significantly different from the positive control group (p> 0.05). However, in histopathological studies, an inflammatory reaction was observed accompanied by increased fibrosis in the dermis, possibly due to excessive presence of flavonoids in the gel. This phenomenon was not evident in the gel at a concentration of 15% of the extract. It is concluded that the gel made from the ethanolic extract of chamomile has a healing effect on albino rattles.
