The principal objective of the thesis is to determinate the relationship between the presence of natural microhabits of Lutzomyia spp and el level of knowlegment about Lutzomyia of human population with the vector control on leishmaniasis endemic places. This research is a correlational descriptive study, the universe was formed by houses from Yumpe and Chichasmarca places in Huayllacayan distrite, Bolognesi province, Ancash Political department; this houses are distributed in 3 Km approximately along Huayllacayan valley, muestral sample was 74 houses selected by intencional non-probabilistic method and 203 participants was interviewed. Five microhabits types was evaluated in order to measure habitat variable using four tramp type, questionnaires were used in order to measure the variable of knowledge. Statistical test Chi square test was used to test the hypothesis with the following results: 33 Lutzomyia was capturated using emerging traps in three of the five types of microhabitats evaluated, all collected Lutzomyia were identified as Lu. verrucarum, a positive relationship between the presence of Lutzomyia and type of microhabitat was detected (p <0.05). Yumpe and Chinchasmarca residents have on average a high level of knowledge about the adult phase vector (96%), disease (83%), practices for the treatment of disease (90%) and practices to control vector adulthood (89%); however, they have low level of knowledge about practices for preventing disease (57%). However a positive relationship between knowledge of disease and fumigation practice as control was found (p <0.05).
