The current principles of cavitary preparations seek the preservation of dental tissues. In the field of Pediatric Dentistry, the concept of Minimally Invasive Dentistry is applied with more emphasis, which aims to remove infected dental tissue with maximum preservation of the tooth structure. Likewise this technology has brought different techniques of cavitary preparations more comfortable, painless and without the peculiar noise of the handpiece of high speed especially for patients odontopediátricos. Among the various techniques we have atraumatic restorative treatment, cavitary preparations for class II tunnel or vertical or horizontal slot injuries, abrasive air with aluminum oxide particles, Er: YAG laser and also diamond CDV tips. Today there are multiple options of techniques in the cavitary preparations which we will have to apply with a correct diagnosis in order to restore the integrity and functionality of the tooth over time.
