Abstract

Se presenta el caso de un paciente varón de 24 años de edad, soltero de ocupación motocarrista. Ingresa al Centro de Atención Primaria Nivel II San Juan Bautista - Es salud en compañía de su mamá con presencia de vómitos, dificultad para respirar y fiebre; la mamá refiere que presenta diarrea. A la evaluación del médico ordena realizar prueba rápida diagnosticando VIH-SIDA, quedando en observación y recibiendo tratamiento conforme. VIH significa virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana. Éste daña el sistema inmunitario mediante la destrucción de los glóbulos blancos que combaten las infecciones. Esto lo pone en riesgo de contraer infecciones graves y ciertos tipos de cáncer.
