Objective: The main objective of this research is to determine whether use of SPSS software, like computing resource, influences in improving attitudes towards statistics in nursing students from the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University. Method: The sampling used was the probabilistic of simple random type. We worked with an experimental group comprised by 40 students whom were coursing the eighth cycle of the nursing career in that university. The design used in the research was the experimental, specifically Pre-experimental type with Pretest and Posttest in one group. To collect data, Attitudes toward Statistics Scale (SATS) of Schau et al. (1995) was used. Also, data were processed using SPSS 22 software, and to hypotheses contrasting are used, as parametric statistical test, the Student t test for related samples, to determine differences between the mean scores on attitudes towards statistics in study group students, before and after the use of SPSS software like computing resource. Results: We found that there is a highly significant difference in the total scale of attitudes toward statistics, at level of p<0.001. Both in the Affective dimension as in the Cognitive dimension, the differences are significant at level of p<0.05; while in the Value dimension the difference is significant at level of p<0.001; and in the Difficulty dimension, a significant difference at level of p<0.01 was observed. Conclusions: In general, we can say that the use of SPSS software, like computing resource, is effective to achieve that attitudes towards statistics are more favorable in nursing students of the investigated study group.
