The study was carried out in order to determine the effects of a Social Skills program on assertive behavior in students of the first year of administration of a University of Lima. This is a study with a quasi- experimental design to measure a pre and post test group. The Rathus Assertiveness Inventory was used as an instrument in 37 students who attend the first year of the administration career, in order to measure assertive behavior before and after the intervention with a Social Skills program. Among the main results, there were significant differences (t = -2.097; gl = 36; p = 0.043) between the means corresponding to the assertiveness scores before (mean = 2.9201) and after (mean = 3.0983) the intervention. There was a favorable increase in the assertiveness index. There are significant effects of the program on aspects related to: Ability to demonstrate nonconformity in commercial interaction situations (Before: 2.4797; After: 2.9257; p = 0.015); Behavioral manifestation of feelings, thoughts or beliefs in everyday social situations, (Before: 3.699; After: 3.7568; p=0.048), And Cognitions about self-efficacy in social interactions (Before: 2.9459, After: 3.2216, p = 0.045). The study concludes by pointing out that the Social Skills program had favorable effects on the assertive behavior of the students of the first year of administration of a university in Lima. Issues related to the ability to demonstrate disagreement in situations of commercial interaction were improved; As well as in the manifestation of behaviors of feelings, thoughts or beliefs in everyday social situations; And in the autonomy that a person takes with respect to social interactions
