This research’s main objective was to determine the existent relation between self-care and complications in mellitus type II diabetes patients from Hugo Pesce Pescetto Hospital in Andahuaylas during the year 2018. The research was quantitative applicative level research, descriptive and correlational, in a non-experimental design. The sample was based on 81 patients, and the techniques used during the process were surveys and observation a questionnaire and a comparison sheet as research tools. According to the results, 44.44% of the patients show a regular level of self-care, the 29.63% a low level of self-care and a 25.93% a good level of self-care. Likewise, the 33.33% shows complications and the 66.67% doesn’t. Besides, it was concluded that a significative relation between self-care and complications in mellitus type II diabetes patients of 0.675 exists, according to Spearman’s correlations. It was suggested to the Nurse Chief to organize workshops for mellitus type II diabetes patients, where the nursery personnel shows the existing alternatives to avoid and prevent complications that could raise the chances of death, alternatives like variety and proportional rations on diets, recommend adequate exercises for each patient, etc.
