The objective of this study is to determine the level of Emotional Intelligence in university students of the psychology faculty of a private University of Metropolitan Lima, 2018. The instrument used is the Inventory of Emotional Intelligence prepared by Reuven Bar-On (1997) and adapted in Peru by Nelly Ugarriza (2001). The sample consists of 40 university students of both sexes. After the analysis of the results, in the Level of Total Emotional Intelligence, it was found that 72.5% of the students are in a "low" category; while 27.5% is located in an "average" category. Likewise, in the Intrapersonal component, 62.5% are located in a "low" category. In the Interpersonal component we find 75% in an "average" category. In the Adaptability component, 57.5% are located in the "low" category. In the Stress Management component, 50% are in an "average" category. And finally, in the General Mood component, 70% are placed in an "average" category. Based on these results, an intervention program was developed.
