The objective of this study was to determine the influence of the Personal and Institutional Factors in the Practice of Clinical Hand Washing in nurses of the Emergency Service, Maria Auxiliadora Hospital, 2019. Methodology of quantitative research, applied level, descriptive method, non-experimental design responds to the correlation scheme, the population and census sample was 74 nurses and 100% was worked on, To collect the information we used the questionnaire, for the Personal and Institutional Factors, the reliability was 0.925 and for the Washing Practice of hands Clínical a checklist, the reliability was 0.820. Results: Personal and Institutional Factors, with prevalence, low level 43 (58.1%), in its dimensions: Personal Factors prevalence, low level 44 (59.5%) and in Institutional Factors, low level 39 (52, 7%) and in the second variable, inadequate level 38 prevails (51.4%). We conclude that personal and institutional factors have a significant influence on clinical hand washing (R2 = .454 **), Pearson. We recommend the In-Hospital Infection Control Committee to organize training in the Service, as part of continuing education for nurses on the importance of hand hygiene, with the five moments and eleven steps.
