The objective of this research is to determine the level of irrational beliefs of 5th grade students. High school of the Educational Institution 2056 "José Gálvez" -Distrito de Independencia, in the Province of Lima, Period 2018. The study corresponds to a descriptive, basic level research with a quantitative approach according to the handling of data . The research design is non-experimental, cross-sectional. The universe of the population consists of 53 students of the Educational Institution 2056 "José Gálvez", the sample was census, because the students were 5th. high school therefore, they were considered as participants. The technique used for the collection of the information was the survey and the instrument used was the questionnaire of irrational beliefs of Albert Ellis, which evaluates ten dimensions of irrational beliefs: Need for approval, high self-expectations, blame, intolerance to the frustration, external causes, fear or anxiety, avoidance of problems, dependence, helplessness, passivity. The conclusion reached was that the irrational beliefs of the 5th grade students. of high school of the Educational Institution 2056 "José Gálvez" is moderately negative in 85%, product of a set of factors that do not favor the welfare of the students; resulting in the rigid thinking of the students.
