Abstract: El presente trabajo de investigación estima el impacto en la economía asociado a la conflictividad social durante los años 2005-2015, partiendo del análisis de los factores que toman en cuenta los agentes económicos para asumir el costo de mantener una confrontación, como los beneficios de evitarla, en 181 situaciones de enfrentamiento vinculadas a externalidades generadas por actividades empresariales extractivas. La no ejecución de 13 proyectos de inversión minero por conflictividad social significó una pérdida acumulada de US$ 85,495 millones, a razón de un punto porcentual en promedio anual que se restó al crecimiento de la economía durante la última década. Producto de la confrontación de las variables de conflictividad social con el PBI y las inversiones, se evidenció también que los agentes económicos no están valorando los beneficios de las actividades extractivas ni asumiendo en su totalidad los costos de activar una confrontación
The present research work estimates the impact in the economy associated with social conflicts during years 2005-2015, on the basis of the factors who take into account the economic agents to assume the cost of keeping a confrontation, as the benefits of avoiding it, in 181 confrontational situations linked to externalities generated by extractive business activities. The non-implementation of 13 mining investment projects due to social conflicts meant a cumulative loss of US$ 85,495 million, an annual percentage point that was subtracted from the growth of the economy during the last decade. As a result of the confrontation of the variables of social conflict with GDP and investments, it was evidenced too that the economic agents aren't valuing the benefits of extractive activities, neither are fully assuming the costs of activating a confrontation
