The in vitro antibacterial effect of the ethanolic extract of the Persea americana seed (avocado) on strains of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Methodology. Some secondary metabolites like Phenolic compounds, lactones, reducing sugars and carbohydrates with greater presence in the extract were identified; In addition, the optimal concentration of ethanolic extract and its antibacterial effect in vitro were determined in Staphylococcus aureus strains by means of the agar diffusion technique with the drug Ciprofloxacin. The research is pure experimental with a quantitative approach, the ethanolic extract was prepared, the strains of Staphylococcus aureus were planted and the discotheques were prepared for incubation. Results. The abundant presence of phenolic compounds, carbohydrates, reducing sugars and lactones, unsaturated, lower quantities of anthocyanins and minimum amounts of tannins and saponins, as well as the phenolic compounds that occur in the chromatography and in the capacity of the spectrophotometry. By means of the method of Kirby Bauer it is a progressive change of the halos of inhibition of up to 13.83 mm, a measure that increases in the concentration of the ethanolic extract of the Persea americana seed and finally the ethanolic extract of the Persea seed is checked American present an antibacterial effect "in vitro" on Staphylococcus aureus, but that does not get to be superior to that of ciprofloxacin. Conclusions The abundance of phenolic compounds, carbohydrates, reducing sugars and lactones, unsaturated, could be responsible for the antibacterial activity. The ethanolic extract of the Persea americana seed showed an antimicrobial effect "in vitro" on the strain of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and is looking for results statistically and, finally, the ethanolic extract of the Persea americana seed. 50% compared to the positive control of ciprofloxacin.
