This academic work presents a research project, our aim is determine the influence of nursing care in the reduction of neonatal complications in the Neonatal Intensive Care Service at Cayetano Heredia Hospital during the first quarter of 2017; we used in this work the descriptive method, correlational design, quantitative type, working for that purpose in a sample of 25 mothers of the neonates, who are hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit at Cayetano Heredia Hospital. To produce this research, we reviewed the existing literature regarding the nursing care required by the newborn in the intensive care unit. To collect data, we will use as instrument a questionnaire of 30 closed questions, which will be previously validated by five expert judgments and by the Cronbach's Alpha measure. Based on the analysis of the data collected according with the problem, the aim of the project is to provide updated information to the service authorities, in order to formulate and implement nursing professional developing programs that contribute to improving the quality of nursing care for our neonatal patients. Considering that the nursing professional of the Neonatal Intensive Care Service has the duty to fulfill the functions expected from the profession profile for the best performance of his work, granting the importance that deserves the care of the hospitalized neonate and the family and especially the mother
