The main objective of this thesis is to design a discharge hopper, which will benefit the “El Santo” Operating Unit -Grupo Brexia Goldplata S.A.C, with the increase in tons moved per guard. The main question of this thesis is: Can a technical-economic improvement be carried out, building a discharge hopper to optimize the hauling process in the “El Santo” Operating Unit? being his hypothesis, the construction of a discharge hopper will improve the profitability in the hauling cycle in the “El Santo” Operating Unit. With the implementation of a discharge hopper, the upward cutting and filling method can be replaced by the shirinkage method, thusfavoring greater operation of the discharge hopper. The present thesis has as conclusion, the elaboration of the discharge hopper is viable, since it was approved by the areas of mine, planning and geomechanics; respecting the technical parameters of the rocky massif and the standards of construction of hoppers. On the economic issue, the elaboration of the hopper generated a decrease in hauling costs which went from 0.92 $ / ton to 0.44 $ / ton moved, also the hauling cycle decreased from 9 to 7 minutes /trip.
