Abstract This research delves into a comprehensive view of Bilingual Intercultural Education (BIE) in Peru, reflecting on the importance of the sacred territory and ancestral knowledge as crucial pillars of intercultural education. Furthermore, it examines the challenges schools face in addressing these valuable and significant aspects to establish and maintain a sense of belonging in children with their vital spaces, communities and territories. In conducting this study, I focused on a vital element of the sacred territory, the Apus, and gathered testimonies from wise individuals and community members of Amaybamba (La Convención) who shared their knowledge, a product of their life experiences. The findings indicate that there are still individuals with extensive ancestral knowledge willing to share it before it gradually disappears. Two educational tools, a story and an audiobook, were developed to work with and deepen this knowledge among children in BIE educational institutions. This knowledge is fundamental to foster culturally relevant education and a BIE that nurtures citizens who love and defend their territory, take pride in their cultures, and continue learning through a horizontal and enriching intercultural dialogue. Keywords: Bilingual Intercultural Education, BIE, Ancestral Knowledge, Sacred Territory, Apus, identity, story, audiobook.
