Abstract The present research work is focused on traditional dance, which is a particular manifestation of the culture and/or place where it has been created and is intrinsically linked to the history and ideology of the group that performs it, and the contribution it represents as part of an educational project to achieve the cultural belonging of students in a rural multigrade educational institution. Therefore, this research brings together theoretical contributions that contribute to understanding the following topics: traditional dance, educational project, and cultural belonging within the competence to build their identity. With the aim of having solid foundations for the implementation of this particular project and obtaining the results required by the aforementioned competence. The final reflection we have reached is that bilingual intercultural education must respect, include, and encourage the participation of students in the cultural traditions inherent to their community, such as the case of traditional Wiphala dance through educational projects or other didactic strategies.
