The present study's general objective is to describe how collaborative learning favors the application of the general principles of chemistry in General Engineering Chemistry students at a Private University of Lima, in 2021-1. The methodology develops a qualitative approach, descriptive scope and phenomenological design. The population consisted of 120 students and the sample of 14 students. Interview and survey techniques were applied, as well as in-depth interview instruments, laboratory test and qualified practice. The results showed that the teacher promotes: positive interdependence, fostering a feeling of belonging and commitment among all to achieve a common goal; individual and team responsibility, motivating in students a sense of collectivity and teamwork, strengthening humanity and the value of man as a social being; face-to-face interaction, fostering the construction of new knowledge collectively; interpersonal and team techniques, displaying abilities and skills of the students for the fulfillment of the tasks conducive to learning achievement; and group evaluation, evaluating the process and performance of each member based on the contribution they have made to the team and the learning achievement. Therefore, it is concluded that the students'perceptions reveal that collaborative learning does favor the application of the general principles of chemistry.
