The objective of the thesis addressed in this document was to implement an engineering control to reduce the risk level of the laminillo recovery activity in a steel company in the south of the country, 2019. This research work is of experimental design and applies a mixed research method, making use of document review techniques, observation and group interview with collaborators involved in cleaning the hydrocyclones and water wells of the studied organization. It was evident that said activity generated 1 critical risk, 3 medium risks, 10 low risks and 8 non-significant risks; which, after the implementation of the engineering control of the amphibious clam bucket, reduced to 0 critical risks, 5 medium risks, 7 low risks and 3 non-significant risks. The collection of information and analysis of it was carried out in November and December 2018. The implementation of said improvement took 9 months (January 15-October 15, 2019) and achieved notable optimizations at the level of safety, occupational health and efficiency of the activity faced.
