It is important to know that Arequipa is located in an area of high seismicity, for this reason people must be prepared for an event that will be imminent and not only in their family but also in school. The purpose of this research study is to quantify the knowledge of earthquake students in the Manuel González Prada educational institution, in order to propose a contingency plan for earthquakes. This research was applied to a non-statistical sample of 101 students from the last years of secondary school. The method used was the inductive method, the INDECI methodological guide, and the selected survey was prepared and precisely: "Level of knowledge in the face of natural disasters (earthquakes)", to later conclude the sample studied. Thus reaching the following results: the level of knowledge in the students was regular (78.3%), followed by the low level (12.9%) and high a high level (8.9%). In this way, the development of the contingency plan (the description of the risk, the objectives, the determination of functions, the activities and finally the annexes) arises as a need to respond through actions and established procedures to deal with the eventualities that are processed in the event of an earthquake in a timely and appropriate manner.
