The main objective of this non-experimental study is to evaluate the relationship of the WBGT index with the metabolic consumption of the collaborators, in the development of SMRL's underground mining operations, Las Bravas N ° 2 of Ica, for which is necessary determine the WBGT index and the metabolic consumption in order to establish the correlation between the two variables mentioned above, in order to establish a preventive control measure. . It employs a cross-sectional - correlational level. The hypothesis describes a relationship between the variables of the WBGT index (balloon temperature and wet bulb) with metabolic consumption. The study population is made up of 26 collaborators from the operational drilling area, from which the entire universe was selected. This study was carried out by correlating the WBGT index with metabolic consumption, for which the statistical correlation coefficient of R of Pearson was applied. The results of the evaluation of the WBGT index and the metabolic consumption indicate that the collaborators are working in an environment of aggressive thermal conditions with a WBGT index = 29.73 ° C, and the metabolic consumption M = 598.8Kcal / h; Comparing with the established reference limit values, there is a risk of thermal stress. The study concludes that the relationship between the WBGT index and the metabolic consumption p-value is equal to 0.637, which means that there is no relationship between the variables of the WBGT index and the metabolic consumption, since the level of significance or p-value is greater than 0.05 and, therefore, Ho is acceptable, is statistically non-meaninful. Since there is a risk of thermal stress, and there is no relationship between the WBGT index with metabolic consumption, it is necessary to independently seek a preventive control measure, in this way it is decided to propose a preventive thermal stress risk program (PRET), to prevent the risk of thermal stress by reducing WBGT temperatures and the metabolic consumption of employees, whose work regime consists of 45 minutes working and 15 minutes resting in a cooler environment..
