The main objective of this research was to determine the influence of the problema based learning method on the academic performance of students of the chemistry subject of the 1er cycle of the biology school of the Ntional University Federico Villarreal de Lima semester 2019 – I. The participantes were 41 students of both genders, from the aforementioned academic school and university. The study assumes the quantitative approach, the scope is explanatory and the design quasi – experimental. The results show that the problembased learning method, hereinafter PBL, had significant effects on cognitive performance and procedural performance and attitudinal performance of the students in the experimental group. The merit to this, it is concluded that the application of the ABP method positively influenced the academic performance of the students of the chemistry subject of the 1er cycle of the school of Biology of the National University Federico Villarreal de Lima during the period 2019 – I.
