The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between emotional dependence and intimate partner violence in students from third to fifth grade of secondary education at a public educational institution in Santiago de Surco. The methodology was correlational, basic with a non-experimental design, the population was 258 schoolchildren and a sample of 100, ranging from 13 to 17 years of age. The instruments applied were the Couple Emotional Dependence Scale for Adolescents (Vidal, 2019) and the Inventory of Violence in Couple Relationships (Wolfe & Wekerle, 1999). In the results, correlations were found between emotional dependence with violence committed (Rho=.471) and suffered (Rho=.352), likewise, violence committed and suffered correlates with the dimensions of emotional dependence as subordination (Rho=. 431; .315), neediness (Rho= .387; .299), idealisation (Rho=.461; .327), approval (Rho= .436; .316), self-esteem (Rho=.354; .203) and exclusivity (Rho= .434; .384). In terms of descriptive data, the highest percentage was found in the very low level of emotional dependence (57%), violence committed (87%) and suffered (64%). According to the findings, it is concluded that the presence of emotional dependence in adolescents explains an increase in the level of violence committed and suffered
