This thesis aimed to demonstrate the importance of play considering the contributions of Jean Piaget in the teaching-learning process of children who go through the Pre - operative stage, that is, children from two to seven years old. This stage is characterized by the decomposition of thought based on images, concepts, and symbols. It is a pre - logical stage in which the child's behaviors are based on imitation and symbolic thinking, which generates development in the different areas of learning. Language, for example, is a skill that must be developed to the maximum, since it is the most common form of communication used by the child and because it exercises thought through vocabulary, imitation, sentence construction and text production. In the same way, the relevance of the logical - mathematical ability lies in the ability to do counts, assign characteristics, or construct notions such as classification, seriation, quantifiers, and notion number. Finally, there is the social aspect, which is also very important, since the child, like any human being, develops in a social environment and therefore must respect rules of coexistence and values that are put into practice in recreational activities with their peers. and adults through social interaction Thus, we highlight the need for play in these three areas in which the child will be immersed during his daily life. For this reason, it is important that both at school and at home playful activity is stimulated so that the child can develop their skills and knowledge without feeling pressured or obliged to do something
